Since 1974, the College of Humanities & Social Sciences has offered the BSW Program for North Carolina State University undergrads seeking to strengthen communities by breaking barriers that infringe on fundamental human rights. Chaired by Dr. Natalie Ames in 1911 Building, the 128-credit option covers courses like Racial Relations, Social Deviance, Gerontology, and Ecofeminism with a 13:1 student-professor ratio. Directed by Dr. Kim Stansbury, the 60-credit Traditional and 39-credit Advanced Standing plans integrate Raleigh classes from Grant Writing to Family Systems Practice. Seniors and post-grads commit to nine-month field placements, such as the LGBT Center, Helen Wright Center, Holly Hill Hospital, Methodist Home, Bair Foundation, and Easter Seals. Learners might also attend the Interdisciplinary Action Summit, join the Epsilon Kappa Chapter, experience Chile, research in the Institute for Emerging Issues, minor in Africana Studies, volunteer with Feed the Pack, and pursue the Dual JD/MSW.

North Carolina State University Accreditation Details
In 2019, North Carolina State University will submit the Fifth-Year Interim Report for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to keep the Level VI accreditation current through 2024 under its 14th president, Dr. Randy Woodson, who earned the B.Y. Morrison Memorial Award. Located 399 miles southwest in Decatur, the respected 11-state Lower Atlantic accreditor is recognized by the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) to certify the quality of NCSU's over 300 degrees in 65 departments. The College of Humanities & Social Sciences also successfully extended BSW and MSW accreditation from the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) through February 2021.
North Carolina State University Application Requirements
Enrolling at North Carolina State University is classified "very difficult" by Peterson's because just 13,690 of the 26,859 Fall 2017 applicants were successful for 50 percent acceptance. First-year Wolves must complete 12+ graded credits before entering the BSW Program. This occurs after high school study with at least six language, four math, and three science units. UNC System standards prefer weighted cumulative GPAs above 2.5, SAT scores of 880, and ACT scores of 17. Campus transfers with minimum 2.0 GPAs, especially from partners like Chapel Hill, Pembroke, Wilmington, and Asheville, are welcome. Bachelor of Social Work students must have completed SW 290 with a "B-" or greater. The MSW Program requires a liberal arts bachelor's major and 3.0 GPA benchmark. Master's prerequisites include Biology, Statistics, and Psychology. Note that Advanced Standing only applies to CSWE-accredited prep with at least a 3.5 GPA overall.
North Carolina State University has freshmen deadlines of October 15th for Early Action or January 15th for Regular Decision. BSW Program transfers can enter Fall until February 15th or Spring until October 1st. The Graduate School set a priority deadline of January 18th for MSW Program cohorts with rolling admission thereafter. Joining the Wolfpack requires submitting the $85 Common App or Coalition App online. Tuition and Financial Aid
For 2018-19, North Carolina State University is billing in-state BSW majors $3,267 per semester full-time. Non-resident undergrads are paying $12,939 for 12+ credits. Mandatory fees cost $1,267.
