Since 1974, the College of Health and Human Services has granted an accredited Bachelor of Social Work with 77 percent retention of North Carolina A&T State University undergrads called to serve as responsible global citizens of justice. Directed by Dr. Maura Nsonwu, a UNHCR Innovation Fellowship recipient, the 120-credit, four-year degree starts preparing freshmen for entry-level generalist roles influencing community functioning. Students could also attend the Social Justice Roundtable, join Alpha Delta Mu, minor in African American History, study abroad in Jamaica, engage in the CSWEI Partnership Project, and research in the Alzheimer's Outreach Center.

North Carolina A&T State University was founded on March 9, 1891, when the Board of Trustees appointed John Oliver Crosby to head the A&M College for the Colored Race. Given $11,000 and 14 acres, it developed the Main Building in 1893 for all-male agricultural education. During Dr. Ferdinand Bluford's 1920s tenure, the ban on women was lifted and master's degrees began. North Carolina A&T State University Accreditation Details

In January 2021, North Carolina A&T State University will begin its next comprehensive evaluation with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to retain the decennial Level VI accreditation under its 12th chancellor, Dr. Harold Lee Martin, who made Triad Business Journal's 2016 Most Admired CEOs list. Located 328 miles southwest via Interstate 85 in Decatur, this 11-state Lower Atlantic accreditor is recognized by the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) to judge the academic quality of NCAT's 177 undergrad, 42 master's, and nine doctoral offerings. The Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) has particularly accredited the Bachelor of Social Work and Joint MSW with Greensboro through June 2020.

North Carolina A&T State University Application Requirements

Enrolling at North Carolina A&T State University is considered "moderately difficult" by Peterson's since 5,561 of the 10,367 Fall 2017 applicants were okayed for 54 percent success. First-year Aggies eyeing the Bachelor of Social Work must complete high school or an adult diploma (GED or HiSET). Freshmen under 21 need to fulfill 15 units of secondary prerequisites, such as Algebra and Biological Science. The Class of 2021 reported an average 3.6 weighted GPA, 1041 SAT mark, and 20 ACT score. Transfers will preferably hold 12+ college credits like English and Speech with a minimum 2.0 GPA. Associate 2+2 agreements exist with 58 NC community colleges, including Guilford Tech and Cape Fear. The Greensboro Joint MSW accepts bachelor's grads with 18+ credits of social sciences and one statistics course. Advanced Standing is reserved for 3.5 GPAs in CSWE-accredited majors.

North Carolina A&T State University enforces BSW deadlines of June 30th for Fall and December 15th for Spring entrance. Joint Master of Social Work cohorts apply to the UNCG Graduate School by January 15th. Interested Aggies submit the online or downloaded application for $60. Tuition and Financial Aid

For 2018-19, North Carolina A&T State University is billing full-time Tar Heel State BSW majors $1,770 for tuition and $1,535 for fees each semester. Non-resident undergrads pay $8,375 for tuition and $1,535 for fees by term. Part-time costs fall to $442 or $2,093 respectively. Living at the Greensboro campus' dorms like Pride Hall adds $2,658 every semester. Unlimited meal plans for Williams Dining Hall cost $1,753.
